The are four possible identities – the first is that “I!” ( which really is, as we are fed when we cry, we assume total power – which is why two year olds throw tantrums – for based on thier identity, it seems unfair – this is much like a king would ( though of course a servant wouldn’t) throw a tantrum if his wishes were denied – now once we realize we are powerless, we form a new identity by role modeling after whom we assume are – it is interesting, that one of the primary commandments is to role model both the compassion of God and his saints- the second is unfortunately as in cases of horrid neglect whereby in Romanian orphanages children were effectively given only bottles, but were not cared for – cuddled, reacted to, they have no identity – withdrawn; the next is negative identity, whereby someone tells you, you are despicable- if you believe this, a number of psychotic things happen: 1. You begin to hate yourself ( this is similar to depression which is when your ego/ mind is upset at you) 2. You will hate the person who made you hate yourself ( f0r unlike in depression you don’t believe it was just; for when you feel ashamed of yourself, you feel it is) 3. you will hate all people, for two reasons a. They didn’t stick up for you b. You become jealous ( for by nature we are jealous of the good another has, if we dont) 4. Now a number of interesting things will happen a. You will seek to prove your greatness ( this is in contrast to your “shame”) 2 As you are jealous, you will begin to perceive in other’s, evil 3 As they are ” evil” you will begin to harras them. Finally, However there is a fourth identity, which is the primary teaching of Jewish mysticism, namely nobody has any power! and certainly any “one hundred percent behavioral purity” – our world is simply God’s video game- you are his avatar, and the experiences both collective and individual are for the sole/soul purpose of infinite step by step advancement
