Now the body is like a small city in which two kings wish to gain control over it – obviously the objective is not for the homes, rather for the people – in other words, the animal soul desires that the mind, speech and actions should be there exclusively to attain its selfish desires and Divine soul conversely wishes that the mind should be exclusively there to understand the greatness of God, contemplating until this leads to an emotional love which spreads to the entire body (to fulfill God’s will) and moreover to transform any passion residing in the human (for ultimately the animal simply wants pleasure, so when there is enough desire for anything, the animal will follow along).
