social destruction; yesterday I was reading a book by the former chief rabbi of Britain Rabbi Sacks who says an extraordinary point – the destruction of great civilizations come from corruption – well that is well known – however he identifies the worm that eats the apple – the worm is that with poverty people are forced to think on their feet, but as prosperity increases, so does indolence – eventually as we see today, the indolence becomes like weights which as opposed to anchoring a person in creativity, in striving (we see this interestingly, in the difference between the latin Americans and many Americans, for example, a friend of mine was a lawyer for a massive company and they had factories in cities where many people did not have work and the Americans simply weren’t interested in low paying jobs, but the Latin Americans happily took the work)
