Who are you?

Are you your body?

But inside your body is a soul.

Without your soul, you can’t be alive.

Who made your body?

And how did your soul get inside it?

What is a soul?

These are questions asked by all thinking people and here is the answer:

The body is a miracle.

Science has taught us a lot about how our body works.

But there is no doctor or adult who seeing birth – a new life coming into this world – is not amazed by this wondrous phenomena!

But the truth is, the bigger question of course, is not what we can see and observe, but what we can’t!

What is the soul?!

Who made it?!

How did it get into your body?!

Well just like the body is a miracle, so too is the soul!

For this, we can’t use science, for science only teaches us what we can see and observe, but mysticism, revealed by God when he revealed the Ten Commandments to Mosses, secretly taught for thousands of years and only revealed recently by the holy Baal Shem Tov, explains the true you, your soul!

First and foremost, your soul is a spark of God!

Like the verse teaches “God’s candle, is man’s soul!” so it’s like God, took a tiny flame from himself, which became your soul!

Your soul has five categories:

The first is called pleasure – pleasure is considered the greatest aim of people.
The second is desire – desire / what you choose to want, is so strong, that the very choice to want something, gives you a pleasure when you get it – of course, just as we have a desire for pleasure, we also have a desire to not feel pain.

Then comes our mind – we can think, and if we really think that something is good for us, we create a desire for it, and if we really think something is bad for us, we have desire to stay away from it.

These desires are called love or fear, so we love things we really think will give us pleasure, and we fear things we think will be painful, or hurt us.

These two desires, create the desire to gain and the desire to protect oneself (so if you love something, you then desire to get it, and if you fear something, you desire to protect yourself from it.)

We also have moral desires, so we feel sorry for people who are in pain, and we want to help them, and we also don’t want to hurt anyone; this is called compassion, and morality.

Finally, we have a desire to connect to who we feel is respectable.

Now these desires, get known to us, through our conscious thoughts; get told to others, through our speech; and of course, we use our hands and feet to go toward or away from what we love and fear.

So now you get a clear picture of your soul.

That’s the good news, but the bad news is; you actually have three souls in you!

They are: the Divine spark.

The animal soul.

And the Intellectual Soul.

So each soul, has what it likes and dislikes.

The Divine soul likes to do good.

The animal soul, cares only for lollipops and ice-cream, things that give the body an instinctual (immediate) pleasure.

Now the mind, is God’s great gift to us; for the mind likes to understand and it’s only when we think, that we can understand.

Now these souls are in a massive war.

Each one desires to have its own way.

The comparison would be, like two kings trying to conquer a city – what are they trying to achieve? – well each one hopes, when they conquer the city, then everyone will follow its wishes!

Now we understand, how the same person can sometimes be nice, and sometimes be mean; and often, we can want to do something which our mind understands, but our body doesn’t want to (dieting would be a good example.)

How many desires can you name for each of the three souls: Divine, animal, Intellectual?

But most importantly, we need to understand, that God who made the miracle of your body, who made the miracle of your soul, and who made the supernatural miracle of putting them together, is your friend!

God loves you more than parents, who love their children!

God loves you, as you are Him within a body, and even if you don’t realize that, He Does!

So why did God make us?

Again, we need mysticism to teach us the secrets of God’s desire.

God wants you to be proud of yourself.

To be proud of yourself, he needs to put you into this “video game.”

Just like you feel proud when you beat the opponents on a video game, you feel proud, when you beat your animal soul, and your Divine spark wins!

Now most importantly, dear reader; what God loves most, as we do (because after all we are God in a body) is unity!

Don’t you love it, when someone makes friends with you? – Isn’t the feeling of having a good conversation exhilarating?! – Because we love people! – But sometimes people becomes jealous of our love. – Jealousy makes them angry that someone has love and they don’t. – These people (sometimes called bullies or terrorists) are really very sad people, and they are also jealous how come someone else is happy. – Now let me share with you a secret – you can get angry at a bully who does something mean to you for no reason, or you can feel very sorry – compassionate – realizing that he or she is so sad inside that they are jealous of your happiness. – And here’s the miracle God made – When you feel sorry for someone, instead of hating them for the evil they did to you, you actually love them, because that’s the miracle of compassion, it can turn hate into love.

And finally, realizing that there is really only one God, so if there are many sparks of God, it just appears to us how they are in separate places, because we can’t see God hiding inside us, but as there is one God – wow! incredible! Amazing! – it means We Are All One!
