Self esteem

By zevi770 · February 5, 2014

What is self esteem?

It is of course how we esteem ourselves.

But how does it come?

Self-esteem, similar to what King Solomon said “let another’s mouth praise you, but not your own!” must come from how you perceive yourself to be perceived, by those, you perceive as precious.

In simple language, if a parent whom the child perceives as great, perceives their child as great, the child then will perceive themselves as great.

Now here is a fascinating fascinating corollary of self-esteem, to how man perceives himself in God’s image.

If you look at the subconscious dialog in the Bible, we see that God speaks to man as an equal – “here’s the reality, buddy” for example “see I have placed before you life and death, good and bad, and you should choose life.”

Another example to this, is how the Rebbe spoke to his Chassidim; the Rebbe, for those who knew, was not much, rather, infinitely beyond his Chassidim (here is not the place to prove it) yet the Rebbe spoke – obviously because he viewed his Chassidim – as brothers and sisters, fellow compatriots in God’s world.

So when a person’s role model, gives dignity to the person, the person develops dignity!
