We humans as Kabbalah teaches, have three primary drives
Similar to animals we have emotions, loves and fears
But unlike animals we have two other drives – the first is rational thought – so animals never think – because we think, we have science; we have discovered God and many other noble endeavors
But most delicate of all, we have our perception of ourselves
