Rotzu Vshuv

Ying and Yang
Forward and return
Rotzu Vshuv is the fundamental manner in which God who is both; created man who is neither.
Man is basically a self contained individual with instincts, this is how we are born, true our goodness is beautiful but ultimately we define ourselves based on our identity which becomes the ego-ideal, the voice in your head, the goal of who you are, hence who you aught to be.
Rotzu is a desire for transcendence, to leave our earthy existence, to unfetter yourself from the ego which holds you firmly in the space, the mindset, you are locked into.
However nice Ratzu is, and it must be pretty good if hundreds of millions of people engage in it, specifically in the east, nonetheless God certainly did not create the world so we should abandon it for illusions of rapture.
I don’t know if I am correct in saying this, but perhaps the entertainment industry, as Freud refers to the art industry, also as a sort of Rotzu, a desire to touch something more sublime than the mundane repetitiveness of materialistic traps.
To many even drugs – the ultimate danger – is also a form of Rotzu, a yearning to connect to something far deeper than their ego and the matiarlisitc world they are in.
However the Rebbe teaches us, based on the words of the Kabbalstic primer Sefer Yetzirah, im ratz libchah shuv leched if your heart runs in a spiritual transcendence you must return back to your singular purpose.
Ultimately it is not our job to transcend this world but to transform it.
It is not our job to exit planet earth through our intellect and emotions born from meditation, rather to bring the spiritual beauty of a loving creator to a fellow man.
Abraham is perhaps the best example of Rutzu Vshuv for though his whole life was to find, discover God, he learnt that God’s whole life is to share God.
If Abraham had remained on some mountain, today the world would have no values.
Another great example of Rotzu Vshuv was our modern day Abraham, the Rebbe.
Though schooled in every Kabbalstic secret, his life – literally every minute of it – was only dedicated to helping others.
This is the ultimate sacrifice – not a sacrifice of matiarlistic crap which once overindulged becomes repulsive on its own, rather to cease transcendental bliss for loving kindness.
