Rebbe Vayigash – 5750

1. The story of the approach (and unity of Yosef and his brothers) represents the fundamental reason of creation, namely the unity of the Jewish people as a whole, and the unity of the entire world.

2. We know the Mitzvah of Ahavas Yisroel (Love for a fellow) is based on the fact that on a soul level, we are all one (we come from the one, and in our root, we are the one.) However the goal is that the love should not be only an emotional cognition, rather should actually express itself in speech, and how much more so in (great) deed (s.)

3. This is why a Farbrengen, when Jews get together in friendship, is so very valuable.

For it is God’s intent, not only should we – subconsciously – be one, but by dint of our common goal of serving our Creator!

4. When Jewish people have unity, this creates that the whole world (both gentiles to Jews, and between one another) have unity.

5. The unity of Yehudah and Yosef (and why ultimately Moshiach comes from Yehuda) is, whereas Yosef represents Torah, Yehuda represents humility, and while the former, through (transposition and degradation) can be mixed with ego, the latter is what allows for both unity, and the core Torah to permeate.

6. This then is the goal of every Jew, to have Jewish unity – which as mentioned, creates global unity – and when a Jew undertakes to do this, the very resolution, brings Moshiach!

7. Considering that Moshiach is about to come, certainly this is the call of the hour!

8. We must increase our love for one another – we must increase our unity – as it says, when two Jews meet, a benefit for a third must be the outcome – how much for so, for one another – and we must spread the Seven Nohiade laws, spreading global unity.

9. It is known that the Jewish people subdivide primarily into two – those who are mainly Torah, and those who are mainly “Masters of goodness and kindness“ (business people) and while both are obligated to engage in the other (so businesspeople must learn at least in the morning and night Torah, and Torah scholars must also give charity) as we are – and this is literally saving our generation! (bring Moshiach,) at the threshold of Moshiach, each category, must have the complete benefit of the other – so businesspeople should learn extraordinary amounts of Torah, and Torah scholars should give extraordinary amounts of charity!

Hei teves – 5752

1. The redemption of the seforim (there was a court case in which stolen books were returned) will have an effect, on the seforim that Russia, is illegally holding – as we know, each Mitzvah brings another in its wake.

2. All of Torah is a single holy wisdom – hence by studying the Torah in the parts of the library we currently have – we enable ourselves to have the others redeemed.

3. In fact, redemption, of these seforim, as all begins in Torah, leads to Moshiach.

4. Most importantly, Torah books are there to be learned – our sages teach, that exile will be redeemed in the merit of learning Mishnayous – hence we should undertake to study all of the Mishnayous, and as God sees that our resolution is strong, He considers it as good as gold, and redeems us.

5. We know that prayer (shemoina esrei) follows redemption, hence as we have this redemption, this leads to the ultimate prayer of the complete redemption.

Rebbe Sicha – 5752

  1. We have spoken many times that everything the Torah says has infinite lessons, in all times and in all places – so we need to understand what is the lesson of this week’s Torah portion, especially as we are right before the complete and final redemption.

  2. We find an interesting anomaly in this week’s Torah portion in that while seemingly Yosef is the ruler, it is Yehuda that a. causes the release of Binyamin, and b. is sent by his father to scout out Goshen (establish a Yeshivah etc.) – it is the power of Yehuda, who effectively channels (who to him was the ruler of Egypt) for the sake of the Jewish people, and righteousness – which empowers all bold Jewish initiatives.

  3. Generally in exile we can allow it in one of two ways: – a. either we are limited by the limitation of the world – or like Judah, a Jew stands beyond all limitations, to the extent, can change the world and the laws for better.

  4. To understand this better, we must appreciate the greatness of Mordechai, that though Haman was a Prime Minister of the Persian empire, he refused to bow down to him – (it’s a bit lengthily, but) in short, a Jew who is connected to God, can straddle both being higher than reality, within.
  • The lesson for us is, a Jew can live in one of two ways, either do his Judaism but otherwise feel limited, or realize, as a servant of God, he has the ability to completely transform his country.
  • We see from Yehudah’s uncompromising courage, that he caused, not only the Jewish people to settle in Egypt, but there to be “owners”.
  • The practical directive is – especially as we are right before Moshiach, when the world (in most countries) has opened up and gentiles are only too eager for Jews to direct – hence a Jew must lead – and furthermore, this leads to the coming of Moshiach.
  • We must work on redeeming – which according to the law of Russia, they were meant to be sent – the books, captured in Russia – and the way we do this, is, by ordering new Torah books- including having a subscription, that all new Torah books that are purchased, should be delivered.

Rebbe – Sicha – Vayigah (Asarah Biteves) 5749

  1. The cause of every descent of-course is so there should be an ascent – in fact, specifically Asarah Biteves (when the city of Jerusalem was sieged, which eventually led to her destruction) was such a holy day (for the energy of the descent is truly the energy of the ascent.)

  2. The love between God and the Jewish people, depends on the love between the Jewish people – this is one of the reasons the Jews went into exile, for though we may be spread out, nonetheless (as we see, say in the ingathering of the exile – a home for all Jews, regardless of culture, background etc.) that this actually cements our deepest love.

  3. Ironically, the very siege creates a Jewish unity (and had the Jews increased in their love for one another and therefore between God and them, this would have eradicated the problem) nonetheless, God desires to reach the ultimate (in unity.)

  4. The ultimate goal is that the existence of God, and the existence of man merge, to be one.

  5. Infinitely more that the rich give to the poor, the poor – through the infinite merit of Tzeddakah – give to the rich.

  6. Hence the ultimate purpose of exile, is to create an extraordinary love between God and the Jewish people and vice-versa, and between the Jews – therefore, on this day, we must increase in all matters, leading to this goal.

  7. When Moshiach comes there will be completion in the love, between Jews, and between Jews and God, and the whole world will see how all is one.

Rebbe Sicha – Vayigash (Hadran 5749)

  1. It is obvious that prior to doing God’s will, there must be a belief in God.

  2. This belief can be on many gradients – when Moshiach comes, it will be not something in addition (for even Abraham’s discovery – was in his mind (in other words, his first reality was the physical) rather it will be entirely who we are.

  3. As when Moshiach comes Divinity will be reality, therefore it will not be possible for reality to not (be Divinity.)

  4. When Moshiach comes, just as the basin of the ocean is there exclusively to hold her waters, so we and Divinity.

  5. There are three levels of wisdom – there is the knowledge of the physical, which of-course is incomparable to the knowledge of concepts (and a child initially can know things, but as our mind matures, we appreciate the truth of ideas) and then there is the unknowable infinite God – now we have a relationship to God, that though we know of him – Him we do not know – when Moshiach comes, He will be known and simultaneously our knowledge of Divinity, will continually increase.

  6. Every day before Davening, we need to achieve somewhat of this level.

  7. After Davening we learn Torah – and because Torah is infinite, we can continually grow (as will be, when Moshiach comes.)

  8. Once we achieve a higher level of Torah, we achieve a higher Divinity, and so when Moshiach comes, we finally come to the knowledge that we (and all) is Divine, and then our Torah knowledge exponentially infinitely indefinitely increases.
