Practically we can be in one of three modalities

Hopefully we get born into the open state – this is a state of reactional love – you were loved by the world – “your experiences with people” – love is something we all enjoy, for we by nature are social creatures – hence in return, you love the world

Sweet but naïve.

In contrast to that, is the exact opposite state; you were abused by the world – “your experience with people outside of you” – now the reason abuse is so bad, is because even a single abusive person can perpetually alter a person’s consciousness, for though the abuse may have ended, the fear of recurrence has not, this is the obvious post-traumatic stress disorder – the war may be over, but the fear of falling bombs has not gone – it makes no difference what the rational mind knows, for the emotional reaction has not shifted – people living in fear, have all sorts of problems, but first and foremost, their objective is to rid themselves of the fear – but not knowing the cause – as the cause really has subsided, but the feeling has not, we naturally tend to live in a self-imposed rigidity, which somewhat (mainly in the mind) convinces us that “if I behave in this fashion, I will be protected,” but as the feelings are still present, the person become jealous of those who don’t live in fear, hence they become judgmental (as we have discussed at length elsewhere.)

But all is not lost, for both naive love and fear are reactions from the emotions, there is a third path, the path of truth – truth has nothing to do with how you feel – how you feel is about how you feel – truth is about right and wrong, and the mechanism to live in truth is simple enough and perhaps can only be seen from Judaism and most particularly Kabbalah / Jewish mysticism, namely, one must quite simply adhere to God; sounds easy, but remember those loves and fears
