Overcoming Ego

God and the satan dwell in us! hence we are both loving, as well as capable of great acts of evil – believe it or not! for has not all people – even evil, also have love – which is the ego, hence anger when slighted, hence evil when trying to reassert itself!
So we need a mechanism that only the God in us is present and the ego is not!
To do so, we need to do good, not out of personal conviction, for the ego attaches itself to our personal conviction, hence in fact, the goodness increases our ego, as we see the bizarre connection between those who do good, like red-cross who become antisemitic (which is a disease of delusions of grandeur, hence jealousy over the goodness and happiness of the Jews!)
The only way to overcome our ego, is simply by giving it no place to assert itself, and the mechanism to do this, is as the Rebbe teaches, that every Jew must (perhaps gentiles as well) choose a Chassidic Rabbi or Rebbetzin to be their personal spiritual mentor and to ask all of their questions of what they should do, hence dissociating personal conviction, rather, it is submitting to the conviction of the mentor, and in this way they circumvent their ego from its evil head rearing.
