Our Rebbes, in fact all our Jewish role models combined two opposites – completely total self-abnegation (as the Maagid said about the Baal Shem Tov, his majesty was far more majestic than the greatest king on earth, yet his humility – his self image – was lower than a person who eats from a garbage dump) combined with absolute conviction, strength of character, dedication and rock solid trust in God, the truth, love for fellow man! – perhaps these two opposite traits, are in actual fact the same.
