Our four brains

By zevi770 · August 15, 2017

Our four brains – when we are young there is obviously a brain – just like an animal, the brain is based on three primary emotions – the first is the desire for what feels good, the second is the desire to not feel bad – if we are lucky we receive security, hence we don’t have to deal with the emotion of fear – as this continues, our ego (as our brain is undeveloped ) assumes that everything that we have is our own doing (which is why we expect… – this is analogous to the famous example, that two people get stranded – a kind person takes them in, feeds, clothes, and for ten years takes care of them – now one was an adult; as his expectation is, that another person need not care for him, thus he does not feel anything but gratitude; whereas as the child doesn’t know what to expect, hence the fact that this has occurred, means, that this is reality; hence like any child, if the person would stop, he would go through the four stages of grief: 1. Denial and isolation; 2. Anger; 3. Depression; 4. Acceptance. – Anger is of course how the ego attacks something that is unfair (for to the child, the fact that good has come to him is reality.)

So as Freud describes the ego, simply as the way we cognitively view the world – this is why we see quite clearly the correlation between our view and our egos (we see this clearly in how “holy wars” which are really about supremacy are fought – so why fight for your religion?! – for as you have been brought up in it and as it is your belief, hence you see it as you)

Now the ultimate growth stage, is when you can realize that your thoughts in fact are not your own – this is very hard to understand, but suffice it to say, had you been brought up in a different religion, with different parents, certainly in a different culture, with a different history, you would have a different data.

So in order to get to the fourth and highest brain (beyond loves, fears (which present themselves as reality – or ego) we firstly need to shed.

Once we have shed, we then can allow the Divine mind.
