One of the great mistakes religious people make, is they believe in God

By zevi770 · February 3, 2012

The Rebbe believed in God more than anyone, yet at the very same time he was someone who believed that God wants man to work

If God desires, as the verse states “I desire your efforts,” then it is impossible for us to succeed if we do not work

But doesn’t this actually contradict itself

If I believe that God is in charge of everything, my work is superfluous at best, blasphemous at worst; and if I believe it is my work that achieves results, than why believe in God in any event.

The answer to this can best be described by the analogy of an employee:

Does the company need you – yes and no.

The company believes you fit the right profile to get a certain job done, and as long as that task is given to you, no one else – in the company and most importantly spiritually  speaking – is allowed to do your job.

In the final analysis God certainly didn’t have to, but chose to set up our universe; He is the CEO, we all have specific jobs, and no one else, including God can do them, for as long as you live.
