One of the great innovations of the Rebbe was pro-activ-visim – in the Rebbe’s view of life (in a way a break from thousands of years, though of-course being malchus, the vessel that contains all previous Torah – he knew God’s intention perfectly) our goal is not to be passive – it is not to be fatalistic nor religiously paralyzed – ironically, belief in God can either be a very liberating or debilitating – the reasons being: if belief in God gives you, as Presidents and Prime Ministers who believe say – the confidence to make difficult decisions! – then you have been liberated! but if the belief in God causes you to fear offending, disrespecting and stepping “on God’s toes” you become trapped
