One can know every detail, if one understands the general principle, as our sages teach, in every detail the general principle is reflected and the general principle manifests the details.

So in life we must obviously ask the question – a question which no other living creature can ask – Why?
Why am I here?
Obviously in order to get an answer to this question we cannot assume – as the famous definition of what assumption does – rather we must go to our Creator who has communicated through Mosses and passed along the secret of Kabbalah all the way to the Rebbe.
It is a well-known principle that a Rebbe teaches all of his knowledge (as the Rebbe stated is an obligation of a Rebbe) hence it is no coincidence that the final teaching of the Rebbe (Vayakhel Nun-Beis) in one word can be summarized as the purpose of human creation, namely Unity.
The question of every detail of life can be answered in a single word – it is a step towards greater, Unity.
But firstly, we must understand, that in order for there to be unity, there must first be division.
You can only unite that which is divided; you can only coalesce things that are separate; you can only merge that which is distant; you can only create harmony from diversity.
So in this talk, the Rebbe explains – extraordinary to think, that the final talk of the final Rebbe (preceding Moshiach) should be, the mechanism of creating global unity!
Unity is quite simply, identification – This is why families have greater unity than strangers; for example, if someone appeared and could prove to me that he is a lost brother of mine I would love him as I love my brother for the fundamental reason behind the love I have for my brother is because we share a common ancestry.
This is why Jews who have four thousand years of ancestry and history feel more kinship.
This is why groups who have bonds that get to the core of their identity – such as faith etc. feel more kinship.
And of-course, God has created everything, so there must be a way to unite everything and certainly there is.
Echoing Abraham’s original call to all the animals and creatures of the newborn-world “Come let us bow and give thanks to our Creator” – the Rebbe teaches the cardinal principle of Judaism, namely that you and I and every single created being is in fact united – United in our purpose of existence, to serve our Creator!
I don’t know exactly how we teach this to an animal, though Kabbalisticly and historically the masters have; but certainly for a man of understanding, for a woman of Divine intuition (as women are born with greater intuition than men) it is a simple thing to comprehend – “If I create a robot, the purpose of the robot is to serve me.”
Similarly, you were created by God, then our purpose is to serve God. – Never mind exactly what your final purpose is for the moment, as our focus is on creating global unity. – The very fact that you and I exist, means fundamentally our existence is the same. This doesn’t obliterate individuality, for like any instrument playing, or musician playing the instrument, in a symphony, each contributes a unique melody to the grand symphony! – However knowing that our existence created by our singular Creator is purposeful, and we both play a part in this orchestra of life, of giving and taking, hence creating familial and societal bonds, this alone allows us to appreciate not only our existence but our commonality.
