Once upon a time, darkness/light descended onto earth – “If I reveal myself, no-one will be able to be proud of their achievements (as the force of the light will compel them – like angels are) So I will conceal myself” – well people got into some pretty evil stuff – so the darkness/light said – “let me wipe out this paradigm and begin again” – with version 2.0 a new man appeared who saw through all the darkness and discovered light (Abraham) However he did not discover the true essence, for the light was opaque (as this week’s Torah portion tells us, “I came only with my name sha-day not Havayeh) – He realized, as the name sha-day teaches, that God is the ruler over all – in this paradigm, God is like a ruler – removed – beyond – This paradigm is one, in which most monotheistic faiths have adopted – but at Matan Torah (the giving of the Torah) the higher name of God, Havayeh was revealed; in this paradigm, a unique coexistence between the beyond and the mundane is created – for example, unlike most faiths, Judaism has a bizarre emphasis on performing practical Mitzvos – we give our time, money, sometimes lives, to put on Teffilin, eat kosher etc. etc. For this is not a God who is beyond, but is in the details – but even this is nothing compared to the Messianic revelation (which has begun and the Rebbe speaks much about) for the Messianic revelation has no name of God, for a name indicates that you are dealing with the external aspect of a person, not their essence, which has no name (as God explained himself to Mosses “I am, who I am”) and as the Rebbe never tired of teaching: the essence, being unlimited, causes a new “God” as it were to be revealed – gone are the restrictions of Judaism (not that they are abrogated, rather sublimated) for when the Messiah comes, there will be a universal personal connection!
