Once again the Rebbe clarifies a new paradigm or understanding of how to live, in this week’s Sichah!

Today is the fast of Teves, which in some respects is the most critical of all the four fast days (relating to the destruction of the Temple: Asarah Bitaves, Shivah Asar Bitaamuz, Tisshah Bav, and Tzaom Gedaliah) for this fast day is based on the beginning (the siege which resulted in the final destruction of the Beis Hamikdosh) was laid by the Babylonians.
However, as the Rebbe explains, God is not cruel, hence in essence, the siege, the low; is really for a high, for a TRANSFORMATION!
What is the transformation we need to deduce from the tragic Jewish persecution?
According to Kabbalah, there is something called a Yetzer Hara, an illogical drive to do stupid narcissistic pleasures and stand on our pride, even when it goes against our heart and soul!
The way we combat this inner demon, which we all know we have (for does our actions and speech, even thoughts, really reflect how we think we should act, speak and do?) is by revealing the true self!!
You see, the reason we do stupid and egotistical narcissistic things (like anger etc.) is because, we assume that this demon, these drives are who we are!
But is it?!
The truth is, we are God, we are a soul which is GOD WITHIN A BODY!
Of course, from the other side (from the side of evil, as God desires to give us freedom of choice) God gives us these demons (negative drives) but if you asked anyone, are you good or evil? certainly they would say good! – so our evil and our insane irrational drives towards foolish instincts and pride, is not who we are!
When we align ourselves one hundred percent with our soul, which is, that we are Godliness, meant to spread Godliness, we become happy!
