The route to happiness is unconditional love leading to deeds of goodness and kindness

The route to unhappiness is conditional love, namely, that as I love pleasure, so I love what gives me pleasure and fear what gives me pain and as after a while every pleasure becomes unpleasurable, I feel empty (which is the most common feeling in the more affluent parts of the world – while ironically, the-very-poor, who deluded in their perception that stuff will make you happy, are happier, in the hope that one day the may get stuff)

And the route to madness is resentment
