Of this I am absolutely certain, when God made man, he placed him in a garden, to quote God’s words “To serve and protect!” – this world already is as beautiful, as the greatest artist could possibly imagine! (in fact, art is merely evoking the inherent beauty within) However for our lives to have any value, to be valuable both to ourselves and others, including God! instead of giving us a perfect world, God placed some weeds; jealousy, envy, greed; which all is based on one stupidity, “I don’t have enough”, Hence all of Judaism (at least the spiritual part) boils down to gratitude! for in gratitude we become humble, and in humility, we become loving; and in love we fulfill all that is valuable!
