No possibility, of humanity, to discern whom we are, is remotely functional without understand the very basic differentiation between man and animal

And that is self-image

An animal has no shame, as it has no self-image; it is simply like a robot in which certain instincts have been hardwired, certain things give it pleasure, others pain; and it will quite simply do those things; namely, follow its pleasures and stay away from its fears – for to know what is painful, it must have experienced it (besides the fear of the unknown) which ironically is also a basic instinct in man.

However, what makes us different to animals, is that unlike animals who are robots, we are aware – we have minds which produce independent rationality – thoughts; and as our instincts are always active, similarly, our observation of reality.

The bottom line is, of course, our self-image must be role-modeled.

Hence, the Torah clearly and unequivocally tells us, to choose God and the Rebbe of the generation as our role-model (and the incredible crap we see in the world today, is mainly due to Hollywood, whose airbrushed fictitious, but highly realistically produced stars; fool both boys and girls to see, either those with the biggest brawn, or girls with false smiles, to be all that is cool.)
