My father told me that the Rebbe Rashab says that consciousness is a miracle – consciousness is something so extraordinary – for to be consciousness it means you are able to think and to be able to think it means you can do three things: firstly you are able to observe which means a. you must exist, b. a world outside of yourself (hence both the creation of the observer and the observation) b. simultaneously, there must be time (for if things weren’t moving, nothing would be observable – imagine everything being flat – so that necessitates three dimensions, as well as rotation) and finally the millions of miracles there is that allows for survival
