The whole purpose is to bring God’s presence into our reality.

We know God’s presence was mostly in the Holy Temple, which actually means – as the verse states “Make for me a Temple, and I will dwell in them,” ask the sages, “But there is one Temple?” and they explain, “this means, in each one of us,” for we must mimic the services of the Temple in self-refinement.

When we do the spiritual Services of the Temple, internally; we draw down not only the Divinity that existed prior to Creation, but an infinitely higher level.

The word sacrifice / Korban, comes from the word to bring close, or to offer, which means to bring our talents and abilities and use them for a higher purpose and the first step is to sacrifice oneself.

Now the idea of a sacrifice, of-course, is that you remove the life-force; in other words, we’re trying to transform that the animal life force in us, will become a Divine Drive.

Just as the animal that was to be sacrificed, had to be inspected, that it had no physical defects, so too, the beginning, even before we offer ourselves to God, is to do a thorough inner inspection of our thoughts, our speech, and our actions – our mind and our emotions, to make sure that they are not in the dirt.

Now in order to make this inspection, it cannot be that this is something that we do superficially; rather, with the knowledge, that one day we shall come before God, who will review all of our thoughts, speech and actions, our mind and heart; and knowing that this is going to be a real inspection by God-Himself! we will strive to do our utmost to complete our deficiencies.

Of-course there’s nothing wrong to be involved in physical things, however, our passion, has to be for Spiritual.

The ultimate is to use the physical – as one Jewish sage said, that when he has strong wine and good meat, it helps him, in his understanding of the Torah

2.

When a person realizes that not only has he not rectified his past… but had you done a proper Teshuvah, return to God, he would be far more passionate, then the past – he may be despondent – however the Alter Rebbe says, that this drive towards spirituality, at anytime – because God gives us the ability- can be activated.

3.Now the sacrifices went up in Flames, from a Divine fire, that came down from heaven; and we must realize, that just like there is a fire in the coal and sometimes a flame flickers outside, but it’s all really from within, so too, everything that exists, including you, is really being fired by the Divine.

4.

Ultimately, our service of God, has to be, not with the flame of the Divine soul, but with the animal soul.

Our ability to overcome our evil, comes from the Moshe Rabeinu in the generation.
