Living

I asked my precocious daughter – and the children today are the essence of Divine within our realm as the Rebbe said, they are called in the Torah Moshiach – what is the goal of life? – she replied, living!
What does it mean when we say living!?
So here is my interpretation.
Living of course doesn’t mean to be alive, for even a cockroach does that.
Living means to BE ALIVE! – energetic, hopeful, purposeful, filled with a sense that your everyday makes a difference!
How do we do this, and most importantly, how do we continuously do this? for we all know, it is easy to get inspired, but very hard to live – to stay the course!
I think the answer is a unique combination of the two parts of us that constitutes living, namely using our heart and our minds, seamlessly integrated toward the same goal.
It is in our hearts that the essence of inspiration fills our being, but it is our mind, that informs the mundanity of how to live.
When we can align our heart and mind that the two don’t interrupt, but like two horses, pull the same wagon, gently, steadily, passionately, with strength, determination, wisdom, courage and fortitude, we are living!
