Eileh Toildois Yitzchok (Mammer 1)
Yitzchok
Yitzchok is milmateh milmaileh (reaching up to G-d.)
Avrohom
Avorhom is milmailah limateh (G-d reaching down to man.)
Love for G-d
We are commanded to love God
How can one command a love?
The answer is to think about the infinite gap between G-d and reality.
Even the highest levels (Chochmah Binah of Atzilus) are only after an infinite contraction of the Divine light – when one comprehends how G-d is infinitely greater than everything, then instead of seeking foolish pleasures from the side of darkness, we wish to be one with G-d.
Ratzu Vshuv (Yearning and returning)
After every yearning to G-d, must be a return to the purpose of creation.
True Love For G-d
The ultimate Desire of G-d is to exist below (Dirah Bitachtoinim).
As such the true command of Vehavata – to love G-d, is to cuase G-d’s name to be known.
This means to reveal G-dliness (from above to below.)
This is what Avrohom did by providing food to travelers and then explaining to them to thank G-d.
Avrohom – Yitzchok
Avrohom’s way was to reveal G-dliness from above to below, while Yitzchok was from below to above (like the person discovering.)
The former is temporary while the latter is permanent, which is why when Moshiach comes, we will say about Yitzchok, “You are our Father.”
Why Yitzchok is The Way
It is greater when Man comes to G-d than the reverse, for the latter is the way of G-d… but for man to shift focus, is what causes G-d’s delight.
