Life is about balancing our desires

We are desiring machines

Every living thing desires its continued existence

A soul additionally desires pleasure and desires to not feel pain

A human additionally desires friendship – we are social creatures

Yet buried in the dungeons of our castle, lies another desire, a demon lurks with tremendous evil and this is the ego

This monster is the desire for supremacy

Animals don’t have this desire, they only do what their instincts tell them, they have no pathology to be kings or queens, conquerors, world famous discoverers, movie stars, pop stars

And it is this demon from the dungeon that creates anger, frustration, resentment – again, uniquely human emotions, the cause of all hate, evil, maliciousness.

So the goal of life is to slay this demon lurking

The way we slay this demon is through humility, which quite simply comes from Jewish prayer

Judaism is in fact a very unique religion

The word Jew means to be grateful

Until Judaism, all faiths were based on ego – what can this or that God give me?

Judaism reversed the very idea and said it is our duty to be grateful

In fact this is the great secret of Judaism, something even the other monothiestic faiths failed to appreciate

For in the bloody holy wars, in the current jihad, behind it all, is the demon, is ego, is the desire for supremacy, and as people identify with their faith, hence the supremacy of their faith is their egotistical supremacy

Judaism to the best of my knowledge is the only faith that rejects converts – says, you can be good without Judaism

For Judaism is not about supremacy it’s about humility!
