Life in fact is exceptionally exceptionally simple, if you understand this one point

The Kabbalah teaches us, that we are souls
Now a soul has a single power which is the overriding switch, like you have on your fuse-box, a main switch that can switch all of your lights off, so even though we have individual lights in every room, there is one switch that can switch everything off and everything on; and the power that can switch anything in us in any direction, is the power of desire!
As it says, “nothing stands in the way of willpower.”
Now obviously our issue in life is that we have many different pleasures, as we have pleasures, be it in food, in intercourse, in music, in intellectual discoveries and even spiritual pleasure; for these are all pleasures; the question of course is, what will man do? So there are two options, option number one is, that you don’t think and the greatest pleasure will dominate you; which is why people get addicted to drugs, for at that moment, drugs is their greatest pleasure and in a smaller sense, a person can get addicted to God and spirituality, for that is what they have discovered to be the greatest pleasure; so everything they are doing is being motivated by the high this thing gives; conversely, sometimes people get into a state of fear after trauma, so their whole being is not to have the same trauma happen to them again! which is why people who don’t have those anxieties find it so difficult to understand people with post-traumatic stress disorder, because they seem so uptight, and they are very snappy, because their brain now is telling them, do not suffer the same pain; because the converse of pleasure is pain, so what they are trying to do, is prevent themselves from having the same type of trauma happen to them again; which is why actually in a marriage, in the first year, God tells us, you should dedicate yourself to make your wife happy, for 80% of divorce comes from when women aren’t happy; then they become jealous and snappy, and see bad in their husbands, and just want out; but if the same person would be able to be happy, which obviously is first and foremost feeling secure, because you can’t be happy when you’re feeling insecure; so then they wouldn’t see negative and they would only see positive; which is why when we are insecure, our brain shows us all the problems in the world, because what it is trying to do is protect us from anything negative that may happen; but take the same person, and suddenly make the person feel happy, and secure, they don’t even see all the negative things!
To be honest, I started my life in a great state of security and happiness and I only had love in my heart for everyone, and then I went through a certain traumatic period and I actually began to see all this negative in people and to be honest I was a bit of a jerk, because you see the negative, and react negatively; but thank-God through the wisdom of Jewish mysticism / Chassidus I learned there is a third way, which is to trust in God, believe in Moshiach, see the good! and ultimately get to the state, when you are not afraid of man.
Like the most important statement of Chassidus “Fear no one nor anything but God, and love everyone with all your heart and soul;” so if you can get to the state when you lack fear, which obviously – if you have experienced negative – the brain is going to show you all the potential problems, but if you get to the point where you are confident because you know God loves you, and God is going to take care of you, and in my own personal life, I also managed to get out of the physical traumatic situation, hence with time and things working out, the brain learns that the environment around you is secure, so if someone is in a perpetually insecure environment, you can’t expect them to calm down; I am just using myself as an example, but it applies to everyone, because currently I don’t fear anyone or anything, therefore I don’t see negative, for the brain only shows us negative things if it is afraid and trying to prevent them!
So the bottom line is, that desire is the most powerful thing a person has, because we have all these pleasures and if we don’t make a choice, what ends up happening, is if our experiences are negative, it causes a person to become fearful or anxious; and if you have positive, you become addicted to the greatest pleasure that you have had, but ultimately, a Jews’, or anyone seeking to do the right thing, has an extraordinary power, which is to choose; and when you want to do the right thing, if that becomes your primary desire, then everything in your life, will fit with what you desire; for desire controls all else, so please God, May we take upon ourselves, that our only desire should be, to fulfill whatever positive mission God wants me to do!
