Last night we had the privilege of Rabbi Jacobson, the author of Toward A Meaningful Life speak – he said that when he was in St Louis there was a lady who attended one of his lectures – later she wrote to him and he repeated verbatim her letter (I don’t remember the exact words but the content was) Dear Rabbi Jacobson, I wanted to come to you after the lecture but I think putting into words what I have to say is even more appropriate – from the age of five my soul died, I was verbally, physically and sexually abused – so to gain control, I became successful- I am wealthy, prominent and envied – inside I feel totally and utterly worthless – and then I bought your book and in it I read that "birth is God saying you matter" – it made me realize that despite my parents derision, calling me "worthless" the truth is that "birth is GOD saying you matter! – I have a long way to go but with this premise I have hope
