Last night we had a Farbrengen – a this august ceremony the following thought was shared – in life there are two stations or channels – the first is the naturel world we are born into which as Einstein (who knew more about the natural world than others) said “reality is an illusion, albeit a very persistent one” – in other words, this world seems so real and as we are born innocent, young, impressionable, we build an entire false paradigm – the sun will always come up, the moon will always wax and wane, the oceans will end at beaches etc. etc. – but there is another station, and that is, that none of this has any validity, like a little avatar/player in a video game, he is no more real than the game – true, the game has parameters, you can only jump or walk so high or fast, but as a novice computer programmer, I can tell you (which is obvious) with the click of the programmers mouse, you can jump infinitely higher or go infinitely faster or slower – but this paradigm called source-code gets tricky – for there are two possibilities when dealing with source-code – the first is that our reality is totally bendable, hence as millions if not billions of religious people pray, rely, wish, dream, of miracles – but then Chassidus revamps the entire approach to source-code, by saying, it is not God’s goal to alter nature – the world he made is beautiful and should run according to its laws – so the goal is not a genie giving you your wishes, rather a spiritual change – a change of destination – so instead of not only believing the material world, but making it your destination: more cars, money etc. etc. rather, you make the spirit, love, truth, under the guidance of source, your life’s ambition! and in this way you actually merge the light of God into the darkness of nature
