Kabbalah / Chassidus teaches us that Abraham Isaac and Jacob represent three mechanisms of living life.

Imagine our hearts are like a DVD playing; our minds are the screen.
When in love, our minds will show us beauty – the allure of what we desire.
When in fear, our mind will shows us the danger (and the corollary of fear / anger, our mind will show us the “evil” in the person we hate.)
But finally the path of Jacob, the syntheses between the positive love and reverence, of Abraham and Isaac, is the ultimate – realizing that our minds simply are playing the DVD of our emotions; hence we must be able to override this instinctual DVD with a new non-virus prone (such as anger etc.) DVD – and this is obedience: to simply listen to God’s instructions, for by listening to God, suddenly it’s not about “my loves or fears” (even positive ones) rather about, objective truth!
