Jealousy is a very complex emotion, for the person doesn’t know they are jealous, but the way a person can tell if they have the problem of jealousy, is, if they see bad in others, for by nature we should love others and when we love others, we are incapable of seeing any bad in others, as the saying, “love is blind,” so the very fact we are seeing bad in others – especially if it makes us upset – is a sign we have become jealous of them and jealousy is really a great compliment, because you can only become jealous of someone you admire, as the Baal Shem Tov would often cry, for he said, a person who is carrying straw/grass doesn’t get attacked, but a person carrying diamonds and precious rubies and stones often does.
