jealousy

Jealousy it seems, an innocuous enough word, but lets analyze its violence, there is a psychiatrist Josef Berke who wrote a book called The Tyranny of Malice, how jealousy’s by product, is absolute tyranny!
Lets start from the beginning to the very present and see how when God says in one of the ten commandments “don’t be jealous” which comes about through realizing that everyone has a mission, everyone has a purpose, and everything comes from God – God knows what he is talking about!
The world started off innocuous enough – you know a couple, and two kids had the whole world to themselves, “I made you master over the birds in the sky, fish in the sea;” in fact, they were given every beautiful fruit tree, probably vegetables too, that a man can desire; but whammo, a little jealousy and kayin kills hevel!
We find the world descends into violence, but what exactly? God describes that the strong people would take which ever woman they desired; believe it or not, the attraction between men to women is also based on a jealousy – psychology goes into it and I don’t wish to get into all of its details – but the need that men have, is based on jealousy, certainly not righteousness, and when jealousy comes, in simple words, there was rape – a total disregard for marriage and human rights!
Well the world begins again and some bad apple gets jealous of his father and Noah curses him and his descendents bore the brunt of that curse!
Then jealousy of God comes about, so God happy at least his children are united! doesn’t destroy them, but dissipates them.
Finally, there is one man who overcomes jealousy, he humbly is grateful to God and God is – it seems – humbly grateful to him, and the first nation of non-jealous loving people is born!
In fact, it says, Abraham converted the world in his day to love God, but it seems jealousy rose again and the fact is, it is literally only in the latter half of the 20th century that the notion that its not right to go to war – again, wars were not done for need, rather some shmuck was not happy that he was only the king of a province, or even a thousand provinces, he wasn’t happy if you had something he could steal! – and hence, wars were unfortunately the common standard!
Ironically, even the “great empires” Rome, Persia, Babylonia, all also were / are, for the western mentality took a lot from its progenitor Rome – based on greed, and the lust for being top dog; all a symptom of jealousy, for the person who is happy, needs not to be top, needs not recognition, and wealth to bolster low self-esteem!
So effectively, when God says, “don’t be jealous,” he knows what he’s talking about!
