It’s amazing, for reality is exactly opposite to what it appears to be, as I heard from Rabbi Kesselman that the Rebbe said “if you want to know the truth, turn everything upside down!” – For we think that our pleasures are pleasure, and dedicating ourselves to altruistic pursuits of goodness and kindness is hard, while the exact opposite is the case; For whatever gives us instinctive joy, actually is like a quicksand trap, the more you get into it, the more it sucks you in; And like being in a blender but the speed is always increasing, the harder it is to get out! (As anyone trying to give up anything that gives them an instinctive pleasure can tell you!) While that which is altruistic, ironically is something that invariably always has a beginning middle and end!
