Ironically, ecstasy is not a Jewish thing, nirvana is very non-Jewish! for it is precisely in the oy-vey, the krechtz and the kabbalas oil, the forcing of oneself to do more than ones body / instincts / natural inclination desires to do, that one demonstrates to God that ones commitment is selfless in nature!
