In the west we have a mentality which is "I came, I saw, I conquered…" in other words, the West comes from Eisav who of course had the qualities of having a good upbringing, but the passion was ego-driven – and the irony is, that this is also perhaps why we suffer so much from depression… – because if you attach your own power to your success…, that means that the lack of success, is also a sign of powerlessness – whereas if we are like Yaakov, the good Jewish people, and understand that everything comes from Hashem – so both success and failure do not negatively affect you
