In the end of the day all things boil down to as the Rebbe said in this week’s (in fact the last major edited talk he gave) sicha – Life, as we know it, consists not of a finite reality – as Einstein said “two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I have my doubts about the former” – well, it turns out he was right about the former as unbelievable as it seems; and the obvious hand of God, which it means, the universe not only continuously expands, but triples its expansion rate! which is like me not only continuously blowing up a balloon but tripling the speed at which I do so! – so nothing but nothing can possibly be random! – so then the question is, what is the point?! – why do we exist?! – where are we going?! – and the answer is that God desired to bestow his love! – everything that exists especially the big things are paradigms to help us understand an invisible God – one of the critical paradigms is parents (we are unique among all species that are dependent for well over a decade – some animals as they get out of the eggs are independent, others within a few weeks, at most I believe two years) So the reason for this is, that God’s relationship to us is very much like a parent – in any healthy parental dynamic, the father and mother represent two streams of love: the father’s love is more on the spiritual development of the child while the mother’s on the physical; so to, God cares about both your physical well-being, but obviously a human can never be happy, unless their life has value, meaning, purpose – But concomitantly a human will not be happy if they feel their value, meaning, purpose is not their own – Hence first God behaves like a mother giving birth to you, your freedom, your aimlessness, your darkness, but when you are ready to listen, he behaves as an infinitely wise father – now as God is truly without a beginning, hence without an end, there is no consciousness to God, he just is, so the act of creation reflects merely a will to love, to give, hence in terms of how much he can give, how much you can learn, the Kabbalists teach, is a never-ending sequence of continuous life-lessons, experienced via every single encounter, every single experience, all of-course being created via the master infinite loving plan.
