In life we have ten different modes – the first and foremost mode is the desire to live – this is actually quite interesting, for why exactly do we, as well as all animals, bacteria, trees etc. desire to live? – this is as our sages state “all life desire its existence” (this is why for example, in the Samurai etc., often people will give their life to perpetuate what they consider their life) However, the way God made us, is that when we are secure, we don’t give this much thought – so now assuming security we go to the next mode, the next mode is a combination of three operating systems – the first is our ego – the ego is as we see in little children, a strong desire to be independent, to not be dependent, and specifically to get your way, no matter how irrational – in adults this is stubbornness, stonewalling, passive-aggression and of-course aggression – the next mode we have, is the instictual lust and want – things that give us immediate highs which is why children love candy (as sugar is obviously a highly pleasurable sensation) conversely, we also have a desire to not be afraid, for fear causes an unease, and hence we learn what causes fear from people “scolding” (this is where many lifelong behavior “phobias” develop, for example, the Japanese have a documented social anxiety due to their highly structured generated honor based society – but in less rigid inane societies, what happens is people learn healthy boundaries – of-course people may pick up specific anxieties around say a spider etc.) then there is another mode, the mode of intelligence – this is actually what distinguishes us from an animal, as unlike an animal that has the previous two, a human can objectively think – this is a remarkable ability, to look both at yourself and your society and think about it – is it positive or negative… – this is where a lot of teenage rebellion comes in, for they see the stupidity, uselessness, aimlessness and foolishness of their society – we now get to a very important mode, the mode of courage – now in order to get to courage, often it must be preceded by, as monkeys will throw off their young to force it to stop hitching, similarly, by society (or bullies etc.) rejecting someone, this forces them into courage – we see this clealry in America, whereas people from Latin America, who have struggeled greatly to arrive in America are far hardier and willing to happily work harder – hoewver beyond courage, there is wisdom – the objective research – this is the journey to truth
