In life, as I was just perusing the historian Yosefus (Josephus Flavius) — a brilliant young general who defected to the enemy (Rome) — he’s writing about the exploits of Alexander the Great. The bottom line is that all these kingdoms, even down to our very time now, with the jockeying for power between China, Russia, and so many others — really, I guess you’d call them kingdoms — desire power. The whole thing is just so stupid. Because either in life we are focused or not on what truly matters, on what is eternally valuable — which has nothing, but nothing, to do with power.—
