In general, if the underlying motive behind our thoughts, speech and actions, is self-serving, we will never be satisfied; for as the wisest of all men, King Solomon writes about money, that he who desire it, can never be satisfied from it; for as our sages teach, whatever anyone earns – and as studies show – they simply now desire double of that! But if our desire in life, is simply to do good – to fulfill G-d’s higher intent for us, which is the ultimate good, for G-d’s intent is always the height of goodness – then and only then, can we live truly, both materially and spiritually satisfying lives.
