In exceptionally simple words Kabbalah sums up the difference between selfish; protective defensive/offensive; and good and kind! – this is called Chessed – Chessed is what we would call liberal – now there is no doubt that being open is beautiful… – however the motivating factor is actually a person’s gain, for by nature we are social – kids love to play with kids -as such we can be too open… – we can fail to distinguish between friend or foe… and worse we can often as obama has done befriend our foes and leave our friends, taking our friends for granted… and in essence having no value system just aquesing- this liberal attitude is what let hitler build his army and murder tens of millions of people and unless Iran is stopped, perhaps God-forbid a global holocaust) Then there is the exact opposite, we live in fear – fear is a chemical reaction to possible danger and triggers increased heart-rate, breathing, and muscle tension; more specifically: “The walnut-sized structure in the forebrain called the amygdala, along with the hypothalamus, appear to control the first, physical response. The amygdala then stimulates the hypothalamus to produce corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH). The release of CRH triggers the pituitary gland’s discharge of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), which in turn stimulates the adrenal gland to secrete cortisol. Cortisol in the bloodstream causes an increase in glucose production, providing the necessary fuel for the brain and muscles to deal with stress.” Of course there is an increase of adrenaline which simultaneously decreases the immune system (as we need to be ready for immediate danger, hence under long term stress, as studies show we are unfortunately far more prone to diseases.) This is the good news… – the bad news is, as we by nature are jealous (of good) hence we also become malicious (as we have discussed, this is why though all people by nature love, nonetheless when living in the stress induced state, it is most natural to not only fear, but to hate! and like a drug addict, be fully addicted to savagery – though the mind rationalizes the evil by justifying it, whether through blood libels etc. etc.) So the great question of life is, if we shouldn’t be emotionally loving or emotionally fearing, what should we be? The answer of course is that a. instead of seeing yourself as the master of your destiny hence emotionally reacting, you should realize there is a single master to your and everyone’s destiny b. everything this master does serves a single purpose, to make you and the world a better place (just compare today to fifty years ago! and as you go back every while you see massive consciousness positive shifts) c. finally love should not be an emotional reaction, rather a logical choice (the difference is whereas the first, as mentioned, lacks boundaries, the second is discerning – giving while simultaneously protecting.)
