in essence we are lovers – as one researcher writes, we are born to connect! – we this clearly between reptiles, cats and dogs – reptiles are cold-blooded, they care only about themselves – cats have somewhat of a heart but basically are not very emotional; dogs are major connectors, they live and thrive on emotional bonds – however there is a bit of a reptile, a cat and a dog in us – In other words, there is the intellectual world and natural dispositions (as we have had occasion to mention based on the predominance of the air, earth, fire or water side of the soul, is the predominance of the desire for fun, laziness, arrogance or pleasure-seeking and obviously no one want to be in pain/shame) There is the cat, which is savvy, trying to connive our way to get what we want or need; and the dog in us must be tamed – for connections based solely on emotional need can result in overwhelming another – conversely being afraid of people is also detrimental, hence we must ultimately see ourselves not as dogs, rather as angels, sent into this world with the mission to help others – hence our connection to others is more for their sake than our own
