In a tremendous talk on this week (from 5750) the Rebbe explains the entire notion that Judaism is as the Alter Rebbe says Rotzu, Vshuv, yearning and application – effectively the Rebbe says, that man is created in darkness – it is this very darkness which causes the soul to year – we then hopefully find the light – but the goal is not nirvana – rather growth! – imagine a little seed – it sprouts roots, but it is dark, damp, claustrophobic – then suddenly it breaks through and discovers a world – it is easy to get lost… – take in the sights – feel the glorious sun – enjoy the wonderful water – watch and observe – philosophize and be high – but ultimately the seed has a purpose -so the high becomes your fire – but not your destination
