Imagine the shortest route to any destination

So say you have to go from your home to the supermarket, what would be the shortest route?
I am sure you have envisioned the shortest driving or walking route.
Of course, if you were flying as bees can do and have their fine navigational system, you would simply go in a diagonal flight, straight to your destination.
This is how we get confused.
Because we map out a route and then when the route – specifically a positive route – doesn’t work, we think that God’s GPS somehow is faulty.
What we forget is our shortest route is based on our understanding, our reasoning, our limitations.
If you are infinite then the shortest possible route is the one God chooses.
But how can there be so much lack of what God himself tells us he desires.
The answer is very simple.
Ultimately – and this is the key – what God wants is not for everyone to be marching down the same street.
Rather for everyone, individually, using their own intellect, to discern between truth and untruth, namely, between God the Torah and Mitzvos, and a life lacking, God the Torah and Mitzvos.
Now to get people to discern this through their own experiences in life, there is no doubt, that the route God chooses for each and every soul, is not only the shortest, but also the most concrete.
