I’ll never forget the scene, while I was teaching at Chabad student center SUNY Binghamton Mr. Piaker was eulogizing his wife in a memorial lecture and toward the end of her life she read many holocaust books and would always with anguish say to him “how can humans treat other human like the Nazis did?” – so I would like to suggest a simple answer – and one that we who live in the safest part of the world fail to comprehend, for a human is made up basically of three operating systems, we all have some of each, but when the balance gets wacky well the balance gets wacked out – the one we are most familiar with is our mind – but though our mind is capable of rational objective thought, it is easily overtaken by the next, our heart – and as our sages teach, when desires enter the mind obeys – so what does the mind do? it rationalizes – “love is blind” is true, but equally so is hate – hence all it takes to create Nazis is one man’s jealous hate of the Jewish people – jealousy is the third operating system, our ego – so it goes like this – that little idiot Hitler thought he was a very grand person – feeling very grand he couldn’t handle the fact, that in truth Jews seem happy (for they have love in their hearts not delusions of grandeur and its corollary intolerance, like a two year old not getting its way) while he seemed too miserable, the jealousy created hatred, the hatred created – as mentioned – the mind to fall under the province of hate – so the mind begins to justify / imagine all the despicable things Jews do – any type of excuse to justify the hatred is used – hence the Nazis printed the false Protocols of the Elders of Zion as do Sudia-Arabia today – for both the Arabs as well as the Nazis shared a single thing in common, their ego had grown too much
