If our mind is the result of our heart, and our heart contains the emotions of love and fear, and we know that love creates a desire to unite or attain what is pleasurable and fear to refrain from what is not and more particularly what is painful, then why do people have neurosis? The answer is in Freudian terms, we have a super-ego, we have independent minds that work independent of our hearts, as such, though our hearts may wish to refrain or engage in a behavior, our minds instruct us what is moral or not, and when we are in conflict we develop neurosis!
