If I may use my life, which is certainly in line with the average person’s highs and lows, though we are all unique, but the generalized system of how God creates human growth is remarkably similar; so here is what I experienced, to begin with, life begins in the existence stage – even though as Kabbalah teaches, because God’s absolute “physical” presence is everywhere, children are conscious of God – nonetheless, our primary consciousness is what our visual cortex inputs into the brain, namely, our body, others, the physical world – then comes the belief in the value system of your parents – this gets somewhat reinvented by beginning to believe in the value system of the larger society you interact with – this then – hopefully – gets destroyed through some kind of radical realization, that it’s all false – this then gets the space, the vacuum, and as nature abhors a vacuum, the search for truth begins – this process can take years or decades, until one fine bright morning, God reveals himself, to each it’s different, but the crystal clarity of God’s existence becomes evident – we then correlate the God of our discovery to the God of our past – this is also a mistake, for the God of our past, was an image of childhood – the true God, well I guess we each discover that with personal experience…
