I read an amazing article from a Lubavitcher whose on some government board that determines if people are eligible for disability – he interviewed a Kung Fu Master who was severely accosted and beaten and he asked the master if he felt any shame – so the master said, "no he did not, because the assailants did so, particularly to show their strength – that they were stronger than him… but they’re cornered him in a parking lot – if it had been in the open, he could have easily finished them off – and he feels no shame for something that he had no control over
