I once mentioned to my father about a good politician, to which he replied “his interest is himself” – the truth is, that the Rebbe believed, that fundamentally people (or at least Jews, Americans, possibly others, who had good role models) are good – However, the question is, how do we get beyond our selfish side – for, if people are fundamentally so good, why are we seeing self-centerdness – and the answer is, because both are true! – so the question is, how does a person driven in two opposite directions, love and selfishness, become selfless?
