I met a Jewish Russian Doctor today who told me that he doesn’t understand why we need a Rebbe, in fact he doesn’t understand why we need Judaism at all.., for he has developed a personal relationship with God… and I tried to explain to him, that it’s not enough that you love God, more importantly is, that you do what it is that He teaches; and obviously as we are not in direct communication… therefore we need a Rebbe, and obviously this goes back to as Moses says "A prophet like Moses is established in every generation;" as our Sages say, "Shmuel in his generation is like Moses in his" and they being in touch with God, of-course having the knowledge of the Torah that preceded them, they’re able to bridge the teachings of the past, with the people of the present, and communicate the future
