I just realized something – now I know you hear eureka and stuff like that from me too often – but hey what can I do – as my brother once said, sometimes it’s genius, other times common sense that filtered down : ) o.k. why is it that a two year old throws tantrums? – the reason, as my father taught me from the previous Rebbe, “the greatest egoist is a two year old,” because he or she is under the assumption, that the entire world is at their beck and call – now imagine that – the entire world at your beck and call! wouldn’t you be grateful? – shouldn’t you be busy giving out rewards? presents? and thank you notes?! shouldn’t your bill for flowers be astronomical?! – and yet it’s the opposite that occurs – for when we assume, the entire world is at our beck and call, we assume we are special – we are unique – in fact, “we are better than everyone else” – HENCE, ITS AT OUR BECK AND CALL! – this is also why most kids learn to be mollified, for their insane desires, say the car keys etc. etc. need to be refused and an inner sadness over their lack of authority sets in – now the same happens to adults, who for whatever reason consider themselves special – they too cannot handle reality and they literally throw tantrums when they don’t get their way – the tantrums come in the form, usually of verbal abuse
