I just read Edward Snowden’s report on the NSA to the European commission investigating – now it made me realize, because he said – and considering the extreme public nature of what he said, we can rely on its veracity, as the Talmud’s teaching “Something that will be refuted, a person doesn’t lie about” – and one truly needs to comprehend this – all of the infinite classified information, so we are talking, a generation worth of email, phone calls, transactions from around the entire world – literally billions of people – have not produced a single terrorist that has been captured – it is similar to the entire insane regulations by the department of homeland security which hasn’t produced a single, NOT-ONE capture – now the reason Snowden says, is simple: it’s the wrong, wasted, hence actually taking away from the right type of espionage, namely targeted espionage – for example, the Israelis have stopped numerous targeted attacks because they profile, so if you have a choice, as targeted marketing has discovered, say at throwing a hundred million dollars at a mass advertising campaign, or even a hundred thousand at your target market, you are far better off at targeting the profiles – say terrorists, rather than someone sending love letters to his girlfriend – which begs the question – the Government has spent untold fortunes, in 2012 alone, 11 billion on collecting data, now times that over twenty years, that’s at least 220 billion dollars, yet the governments summary is, that this information is useless for national security – so then the question begs itself even more, Why?! – why spend all that money for no reason?! and the answer is so simple, and the reason I wrote this, “Because they can” – “Because we can” is the mother of all evil!
